"The joy in motherhood comes in moments. There will be hard times and frustrating times, but amid the challenges there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction."- M. Russell Ballard
Ever since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a mom. When we found out we were expecting I was thrilled! I loved being pregnant, feeling my babe grow and kick inside of me was the best feeling ever! I often daydreamed about what it was going to be like once she came. I knew it would be hard but not this hard! Becoming a mom has been THE hardest yet best thing that has ever happened to me! For the first few week I was on cloud nine, then reality hit. Ryan went back to work, and I was at home all day with a brand new baby. My hormones were sky high and I hardly recognized myself in the mirror (sleep deprived, felt like a milk factory, and my body hardly looked the same). I was struggling to find routine, my house looked like a tornado hit, and I felt like I couldn't get anything done! I Started to feel like I was starting to lose who I was. I would often compare myself to other moms on social media (their hair was perfect, they and their children were dressed perfectly and had clean perfect homes). I had to remind myself that those pics are staged and thats not reality! Satan knows how to get the best of me! One Saturday in October we were watching LDS General Conference, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland began his talk and I just lost it! It was everything I needed to hear! I then realized that Heavenly Father trusted to me to raise his spirit child, and that being a mother Is the greatest blessing imaginable! Though it is hard at times, I can't picture myself doing anything else in this season of my life. I wouldn't trade giggles, smiles, cuddles and tears for my "Freedom." I have grown to be a more patient, loving and a selfless person. I never knew that it was possible to love a tiny person as much as I do. So whenever you are feeling inadequate, having a bad day or just need a reminder, I suggest listening to Elder Hollands talk on Motherhood. (You can find it here Behold thy Mother) And remember, you are an AWESOME mom! Even when you have hard days, you are doing the most important thing in the world!
