Puppy Love

We are in love with our new puppy copper!
We heard about this company out of Provo Utah called "Puppies for Rent" and thought it would be fun to rent a puppy for a few hours. On a Saturday in May, Ryan rented "James" (aka Copper) for a few hours. We fell love with him instantly! At first he was really shy but as he warmed up to us he was very playful. After about an hour, copper fell asleep for the rest of the time we had him. I loved snuggling the little guy! Right when we got home from our play date, we looked online to see if he was available for adoption. HE WAS! we were so excited! Ryan and I filled out an adoption application and sent it in. The next day we received an email saying someone already put papers in to adopted him but they had till Wednesday to decide. I was so bummed because I wanted that little pup so bad. Well Wednesday night came and he hadn't heard anything so we emailed them and they said they have till the next morning to get back to them. The suspense was KILLING ME!! Ryan and I waited for the next few days and never heard anything... I was getting really anxious by this point. Finally Saturday came around and I really wanted to know if they decided to adopt him, so i emailed them in the morning and nothing.. FINALLY Saturday night around 10:30 they emailed us back saying they chose us to adopt copper! My jaw literally fell to the floor! It was a surreal feeling. We had to wait a whole week to adopted him because he was booked for play dates. It was the longest week of my life! (We were able to play with him for a few hours that Monday but then had to give him back...saddest thing ever!) The anticipation and my  nerves were killing me, I was nervous, scared, and excited at the same time. When Sunday finally came I could hardly sit still in church..it seemed to drag on and on. When 3:30 finally came we ran home and changed then went off to pick up our PUPPY! When we got to the park we were meeting them I saw this cute little pup pouncing in the grass! we gave the guy a check and copper was finally ours!

Having a new puppy is A LOT of WORK! It's almost like having a brand new baby. You need a lot of patients. The first few weeks were stressful and we thought..WHAT HAVE WE DONE!! Trying to Potty train a new puppy  is a challenge, you constantly have to keep an eye on the pup and watch for clues that he has to go potty (sniffing, walking in circles), I felt like I was outside every 30 minuets! We also did crate training, which was MESSY! when Ryan went to work, he put copper in the kennel and by the time I got home from work he was a complete mess. So after a few weeks and about 30 million baths...Copper learned to hold it while in his kennel, which is a miracle! besides potty training there is obedience training which we are still working on..haha:) so far copper knows how to sit and come. We are working on leash training and laying down.

Copper has been such a blessing in our lives, I feel that he was made just for us! We can't imagine our lives without him! Copper is pretty much like our child! (yep i am one of those weirdos). I'm so grateful we were blessed to adopted him. Copper has the cutest personality and is a very well behaved pup, he is also such a smart puppy and a fast learner!
